Peter Andre plunges into Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury’s baby name debate after Kerry Katona slammed Bambi

PETER Andre has rushed to defend Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury for naming their daughter Bambi after Kerry brutally slammed Katona on her choice.

The couple, who met on Love Island in 2019, caused quite a bit of debate when they revealed the nickname they chose for their little girl.

Molly and Tommy, 23, announced they welcomed their daughter to the world on Instagram last week on Jan. 23.

A day later, they announced the tot’s name – and some, including Kerry Katona, shared that they weren’t a fan of the name.

However, Peter, 49, shared her choice in his latest column with OK! Magazine.

Peter wrote: “Molly Mae Hague and Tommy Fury shared opinions last week by naming their little girl Bambi.

“Well, I’m not one to talk about giving your child an alternative name when my children are named Princess and Junior. However, a child’s name is a personal choice.

“Bambi is a cute little deer at the end of the day. I’m just thinking why not? It’s up to you.

“Everyone else can have their opinion, but it’s irrelevant.

“Molly Mae and Tommy are showing me that Love Island has some great things because they stayed together and have been hugely successful.

“All power to them. If they love the name Bambi, that’s all that matters.”

Peter shares Junior and Princess with ex Katie Price, 44.

He is also father to Amelia, 9, and Theo, 6, from her marriage to Emily MacDonagh.

It comes after Kerry said Molly and Tommy should “change” their daughter’s name to prevent her from becoming “sticky” at school.

Kerry is mom to Lilly-Sue, 20, and Molly Marie, 21, who she shares with Brian McFadden.

The star and ex Mark Croft are parents to Heidi, 15, and Maxwell, 14, and she is also mum to Dylan-Jorge, eight, who is from her previous relationship with George Kay.

Writing in her column in OK! Magazine, Kerry said she wasn’t a “fan” of her Disney name choice.

“Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury announced the birth of their daughter last week,” Kerry wrote.

“That’s nice news, but I have to admit I’m not a fan of the name.

“I think Bambi Fury sounds a bit ridiculous. It reminds me of the Disney movie where the mother gets shot!

“The poor kid might get a stick at school. If they haven’t registered the name yet, maybe they should consider changing it.”

Bambi, released by Disney in 1942, sees the journey of a baby deer named Bambi to adulthood after his mother was brutally shot by a human.

Molly had to shut down her Instagram comments after fans split over her baby’s adorable name.
