But now, a mother in the US has gone viral on TikTok after revealing how her son started using the potty on his own since he was just 6 months old.
Now one year old, TikTok user @ montessori.mothering revealed her son can “potty 90%”.
The woman used a technique called elimination communication to get her potty trained.
This technique involves placing babies on the potty whenever they signal that they need to go to the bathroom.
And this technique starts at an early age, instead of waiting until 18 months old when many parents start potty training their children.
The TikToker is raising his son during “Montessori childhood” and explains that you shouldn’t wait until your child is two years old to start potty training but instead should start at a young age.
In a video explaining how she trains her son, the mother explains that she starts by putting him on the potty “every two to three hours” and “at least every time they wake up and after eating.” “.
She advises people to “make potty training fun” and “give a special toy/book” to your child to encourage them.
She adds that it’s important to “look for clues” that your child needs to go to the bathroom, such as a flushed face.
In addition, she also recommends using only cloth diapers or training underwear because “babies feel wet and know when they pee.”

In another video the mother explains that toilet training in exclusionary communication can begin “from birth” by “observing your baby’s toilet cues, usually after sleeping or eating ” and by introducing “sound or signal”.
