British film fans looking to watch pearl in cinemas were enraged by the release date.
The acclaimed horror film from director Ti West is a prequel to Xwhich was released earlier this year.
In the US, A24 distributes the slasher, which pays homage to 1970s horror films. discontinued in 1979, X follows a group of young filmmakers as they attempt to make an adult film on a ranch in rural Texas.
However, their efforts falter when their elderly married hosts catch them in the act – and things take a deadly turn.
pearl is a prequel set in 1912 and focuses on the life of one of the hosts who has spent her entire life on the ranch.
Living under the watchful eye of her strict mother, Pearl dreams of breaking free to pursue a life in Hollywood – a desire that manifests itself in dangerous ways.
Mia Goth, who played an adult movie star in it XShe slips into the role of a young Pearl. Her performance has garnered extremely positive reviews since the film’s US release in September.
The film became a hit by word of mouth, grossing $9.4 million on a budget of just $1 million.
Many have praised it on social media and also shared several memes and clips of the film, which in turn has left film fans in the UK wondering when they will see it.
After posters of the film were seen in cinemas across the country, it was thought that a UK release date wasn’t too far off – but it has now been set for March 17th.
It means that pearl will be released a full six months after its US theatrical release and five months after it became available overseas via video-on-demand services.

Of course, movie fans aren’t impressed with the release date announcement and after it was flagged by an independent magazine movie dogspeople shared their frustrations on social media.
Film writer and broadcaster Anna Bogutskaya wrote: “Excuse me?”
@drag_zilla wrote, “Too damn late,” and @scottyReading added, “Really?!?!?! Ridiculous. SIX MONTHS to USA. Why bother. We want to see it sooner.”

The good news is when Britain will finally be seen pearlwaiting for the third film in the series, MaXXXine, will be much shorter than it would have been. The film is currently in development and will be set after the events of X.
