Patrick Tran: Authorities search for victims in child exploitation investigation of Cypress man

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying potential victims of a 37-year-old Cypress man accused of producing and possessing pornography. children.

On Tuesday, the FBI said Patrick Tran remained in custody on charges of child molestation, possession of child pornography and rape and solicitation.

The charges against Tran allege that he fabricated an online character to entice hundreds of underage girls over 10 years. Allegedly, Tran coerced the girls into producing and transmitting sexually explicit videos of themselves.

The FBI believes there may be more victims and is asking for the public’s help to move them forward. Authorities believe Tran may have asked people under the age of 18 to produce such videos and/or perform sexual acts online.

Some of the possible aliases associated with Tran are Reggie Smith either through Snapchat with the username Travis_Story20 or through Omegle, according to court filings.

Tran was charged on March 24, 2021 and taken into custody. While in custody, a court heard how the case attracted the attention of authorities, the FBI wrote.
