Parents complain the uniform policy is unfair because sixth graders and teachers have the choice to wear coats.

But the school has defended the rule – saying children can wear multiple layers under their uniform.

Marie Clarke, who has three daughters at the school near Hedon, claims her children have been unable to concentrate – and she even had to pick them up a day early, reports HullLive.

The 46-year-old from Preston told the outlet: “A few weeks ago, the kids came home with cold, blue lips.”

“I called the school to ask if they would allow my kids to wear coats because they were very cold. A few days later their answer was still ‘no coat’, so I said ‘so that’s no. have a baby “.

“My daughter is 15 and tells me she can’t concentrate because it’s too cold.

“I told them to just wear them, but they were worried that if they did, they would be isolated.”

Another mother downplayed the policy, saying it was “not an acceptable environment for children to study” as windows and doors were being opened to let fresh air in to prevent the spread of germs. Covid.

“(Children) are not allowed to wear coats when walking between classes that usually cross the playground, or they have to go outside to go to other classes,” said the parent, who asked not to be named.

“They are only allowed to wear their coats once (they) leave the school grounds or on the school bus.”

Principal Scott Wilson said: “We are aware of a number of complaints about students getting cold in their classrooms.

“Our staff continuously check that classrooms are at a comfortable temperature each day and ensure adequate ventilation is available as required in the Covid-19 health and safety guidelines.

“During the winter months, students are encouraged to wear the school’s v-neck blazer underneath their coats and also have the option of a base layer underneath their school uniform.

“Our guidance on wearing coats in the classroom is continuously evaluated by staff, always in compliance with health and safety guidelines.”
