Pape Matar Sarr could be set for Spurs exit after what Conte just did

Whether it’s a permanent move or a loan, Pape Matar Sarr is it probably on the verge of leaving Tottenham Hotspur in a way.

Sarr joined Spurs a few months before Antonio Conte’s arrival in 2021, during Nuno Espirito Santo’s tenure as manager.

But the 20-year-old, who returned to north London last summer after a season-long loan, is struggling for regular football in his first full season as a Tottenham player.

The Senegalese international played against Arsenal a couple of weeks ago but his absence this morning was notable.

Conte’s side won the FA Cup away at Preston North End 3-0.

Given this was a Championship opponent, many Tottenham supporters would have expected Sarr to be in the first XI – and definitely in the squad.

But he’s been left out of both, and that’s essentially a hint that he’ll be leaving north London.

Conte has already described him as a “top player”. [Spurs Play] earlier this calendar year and that suggests the Italian manager is an admirer of the youngster.

But if he had stayed at Tottenham he would definitely have been there today and barring injury rumours, his absence is most likely linked to a transfer of some sort.

Sarr, who is just 20, has a bright future in football and will hopefully enjoy many happy years at Hotspur Way for the Lilywhites.
