Palace could soon hire Spurs, 50, to replace Conte, Edouard would love it – Our view

Crystal Palace could soon get a chance to hire Brendan Rodgers – who is on Tottenham’s shortlist to replace Antonio Conte.

What’s the matter?

Well, the Northern Irishman watched his Leicester side earn a 1-1 draw with Brentford in the Premier League today, putting them just a point above the relegation zone.

While it’s a decent result against a strong side, the nature of the performance raises many question marks over whether Rodgers will keep his job at King Power Stadium – the defense of Mathias Jensen’s goal was particularly worrying.

With the international break approaching, Leicester have a decision to make.

With Crystal Palace in talks with Roy Hodgson due to a lack of options, they may be interested in speaking to Rodgers should he receive his P45, as Patrick Vieira did on Friday morning.

The 50-year-old is said to be on the list of possible substitutes for Conte.

Now some may be wondering why Crystal Palace would want Rodgers given his Leicester side are struggling at the moment – if you’re wondering, there’s a good reason.

Tottenham target Rodgers could revitalize Crystal Palace attack

One man who would certainly like to see Rodgers at Selhurst Park is Odsonne Edouard.

The Frenchman scored 27 goals and provided ten assists in 68 games under Rodgers at Celtic, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most exciting strikers.

Since joining Crystal Palace in August 2021 in a £14m deal from Celtic, Edouard has struggled, scoring just 11 goals in 57 games under Vieira.

However, Rodgers could breathe new life into Edouard’s Crystal Palace career and if he could once again cast the 25-year-old defender it could also have a transformative effect on Wilfried Zaha, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze.

The South Londoners need something to fuel their attack, to say the least – loud Optathey recently became the first team to go three Premier League games without scoring.

Yes, Rodgers might not be all that helpful in terms of defense but that’s not Crystal Palace’s problem at the moment.
