OpTic Marved on 35 kill game at VCT Masters: “I was in the flow state”

OpTic Gaming defeated ZETA DIVISION 3-0 in the Lower Bracket Finals of VCT Masters: Reykjavík thanks to a 35 kill map 1 performance from Jimmy ‘Marved’ Nguyen.

In the Lower Bracket Finals of the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage 1 Masters: Reykjavík, OpTic defeated Japan’s ZETA DIVISION 3-0 after a 35 kill haven performance by OpTic Smokes player Marved.

The performance led to the most kills by a single player at the event, previously scored by LOUD’s Felipe ‘Less’ de Loyola in the upper bracket semifinals when the Brazilian played OpTic and found 33 kills on the crucial Icebox map.

“To be honest, I was in a state of flow,” Marved said in the post-game interview broadcast by VCT. “Once I’ve read the game well, it’s pretty hard to stop me.”

Marved also credited his OpTic teammates for setting him up such an achievement.

“My team gave me time to really understand how they move around the map and I think in the late game, like after halftime, I sort of understood how they move around the map and where I was putting my timings find and how I win these rounds,” said Marved.

“It was definitely a team effort.”

According to OpTic coach Chet ‘Chet’ Singh, if Marved hadn’t had the game he did, the team might have lost the first map.

“I’d say a lot of our game plan worked, but we also got a lot of heroics from our controller,” he said.
