More than 25 seasons of The bachelor have aired since the reality dating show first debuted on ABC in 2002. Now, a full 20 years later, the show is still going strong. But fan admiration does not mean The bachelor was successful in its supposed mission.
The show pairs a single man or woman with a handful of eligible contestants. He or she then dates all the candidates until he finds the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with. In reality, the bachelors rarely spend the rest of their lives with their chosen suitors. According to Bachelor Nation fanbase website, only three bachelors remain among the participants who received their last rose.
Three “The Bachelor” stars are still with their season winners
Clayton Echard was the last eligible bachelor to appear on the show. Its season premiered in January 2022. At the end of the season, Echard settled on contestant Susie Evans. He did not do it suggest Evans, but the two are still together. They’ve only known each other for a few months, so there’s still plenty of time to let things go wrong, as has happened with so many Bachelor couples.
Matt James was the bachelor who starred just before Echard in the 2021 season. He’s also still dating his season’s winner, Rachael Kirkconnell. Like Echard, James Kirkconnell did not propose marriage. When a controversy arose about Kirkconnell attending a pre-war college party, she remained silent on the radio for several months before resurfacing. The couple have reunited and have been together for about a year now.
The most durable Bachelor couple is Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici (now Leo).
Sean Lowe is the only Bachelor married to his season winner, Catherine Lowe
The star of The Bachelor season 17, Sean spoke frankly about waiting until marriage to have sex. Catherine supported this choice. While that wasn’t why they got together — fans loved seeing their adventurous, humorous personalities on the show — they kept that promise. The couple have been together for nine years now. You are the only ones Bachelor Couple to tie the knot.
All other couples on That Bachelor have separated. Giudici and Lowe share three children. Her oldest, Samuel, is 6 years old. Isaiah came two years later and little Mia just a year later. Giudici and Lowe are Instagram sensations and will appear on ABC Bachelor spin off, The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever!
The odds were good against Lowe and Giudici. Lowe originally didn’t want to be on the show. Before meeting Lowe, Giudici had almost given up on finding love The bachelor. She thought ABC cast her as a symbolic minority.
Lowe and Giudici got together despite their misgivings The bachelor. They hit the odds again get married and stay together. So far they are the only ones who have managed to do this. That is, if you don’t count relationships with runners-up.
Several bachelors have settled with runners-up
Aside from Lowe, no other bachelors have married their season’s winner. But other marriages have been made on the show. It’s not exactly uncommon for bachelors to ditch the winners and finish with the runner-up of their season. Two bachelors married the runners-up in their seasons.
Jason Mesnick selected Melissa Rycroft as the winner of his 2009 season The bachelor. He is now married, but not to Rycroft. Mesnick settled with the runner-up, which he initially turned down. He and Molly Malaney are still together.
2018, Arie Luyendyk Jr. turned down Lauren Burnham and chose Becca Kufrin as the winner instead. After the show, however, he had a change of heart. He and Burnham are currently still together and married. They have a daughter Alessi, born in 2019, and twins Senna and Lux, born in June 2021.
