Oklahoma County detainee dies after being found unresponsive in cell

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – An Oklahoma County Detention Center detainee has died after being found unresponsive in his cell.
Around 8:00 a.m. on Monday, January 17, a probation officer and a nursing assistant were dispensing medication to detainees when they discovered Winfred Lowe, 57, unresponsive in his cell he.
Immediately, paramedics began performing CPR until the Oklahoma City fire brigade arrived and took over.
However, Lowe is presumed dead.
Lowe was admitted to the prison on March 30, 2021, and received ongoing medical care in the prison’s medical facility during his stay.
Officials say he also spent 100 days in the hospital.
The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office will determine Lowe’s cause of death.
