Officer Wilbert Mora died days after the shooting in Harlem, New York

NEW YORK – A New York City police officer who was critically injured in the Harlem shooting that claimed his comrade’s life last week has also died from his injuries, Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell said on Thursday. Three.

Officer Wilbert Mora, 27, entered the police academy in October 2018 and has been assigned to Harlem’s 32nd district since November 2019. He has made 33 arrests, police records show .

“I am deeply saddened to announce the passing of Police Officer Wilbert Mora,” Sewell said in a tweet. “Wilbert is a hero three times. For choosing a life of service. Two officers were critically injured Friday after they were called by a woman to her apartment in Harlem, who said she needed help with her adult son. Authorities said gunman Lashawn J. McNeil opened the bedroom door and shot the officers as they walked down a narrow hallway.

A third officer shot McNeil. Authorities said the gunman, 47, died Monday.
