Off-duty NYPD cop, robbed of gun, beaten in Hell’s Kitchen: police

An off-duty NYPD police officer was stripped of his gun and beaten during a fight with a group of other men early Friday in Hell’s Kitchen, police officers said.

The 42-year-old victim was outside of Hudson Market Place on Ninth Avenue near West 51st Street around 4:30 a.m. – along with another man whose exact relationship to him is unclear, police said.

At one point, the couple got into a heated argument with four other men outside the deli, which escalated into brawls, police officers said.

During the fight, one of the men in the group snatched the off-duty officer’s firearm, police said.

The group fled south on Ninth Avenue in a gray Dodge Charger.

The officer was taken to Mount Sinai West with bruises and abrasions, conscious and alert, police said.
