NYPD searches for NYC series slasher wanted in connection with fatal Hudson River Park stabbing

A serial slasher was wanted in connection with a series of knife attacks on homeless New Yorkers sleeping on city benches – including a brutal attack that killed a 34-year-old man last week, sources said.

The male suspect allegedly sneaked up behind three people, all of whom were believed to be homeless, and stabbed them while they were in parks across Manhattan from July 5 to July 11, police said.

In the first incident, on July 5, the man sneaked up on his 34-year-old victim, who was sleeping on a bench in Hudson River Park, and stabbed him in the stomach, police said.

Officers found the man around 4:40 a.m. with a laceration to his stomach. Paramedics took him to Bellevue Hospital, where he died.

Three days later, the knife-wielding brute struck again.

He stabbed a 59-year-old homeless man who was sleeping on a bench near East 49th Street and Madison Avenue around 10 p.m. on July 8, police and sources said.

The man sustained a stab wound to the abdomen and was taken to New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition.

Two days later, the suspect stabbed a homeless woman sleeping in the Stanley Isaacs playground off FDR Drive.

The 28-year-old victim was sleeping on the floor near the playground’s basketball courts when she felt what he believed to be a punch to her left side and woke up, law enforcement sources said.

When she opened her eyes, she saw the serial thief standing over her, knife in hand, according to the sources.

The victim attempted to chase her attacker but stopped when she realized she had been stabbed and dialed 911.

One of the victims is said to have told the police that the suspect wanted in connection with the stabbing bears the name "Delly."

EMS took her to Metropolitan Hospital in stable condition.

The latest victim told police they recognized her attacker and didn’t know the man’s real name, but that he went by the name “Delly,” sources said.

The spate of stabbings against homeless New Yorkers comes about four months after a deranged killer murdered two homeless men and injured three others in a series of shootings in New York City and Washington, DC. He was arrested for the killing spree in March.
