NYPD cop involved in Bronx shooting

A suspect is in critical condition after he was shot dead by an NYPD officer in the South Bronx early Sunday morning.

The officer shot the suspect just after midnight at 161st and the Macombs Dam Bridge just off the Major Deegan Expressway around midnight, police said.

The suspect, who has not been identified, was taken to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition.

Investigators are reacting to the scene in which the officer involved fired.

The incident happened near the Major Deegan Expressway.


The officer who fired his gun was not injured.

Police said they would not be releasing further details of the shooting at this time, but plan to hold a press conference sometime on Sunday.
