NYC firefighters rescue window cleaners from Manhattan skyscrapers

A pair of window cleaners were rescued by city firefighters Friday morning from scaffolding that was stuck 42 stories up in Midtown, officials said.

The FDNY got the call just after 8 a.m. when witnesses reported the two window cleaners appeared to be in danger when the motorized scaffolding tilted to one side while they were working on a 53-story skyscraper at 712 Fifth Ave.

Firefighters climbed the skyscraper and deployed a drone to monitor the situation, firefighters said.

This morning FDNY received a call for workers stuck on scaffolding on the 42nd floor of a building.

After about an hour, firefighters cut a hole in the 42nd floor window and dragged the workers to safety.

“It went smoothly, the members worked efficiently,” said FDNY battalion chief Robert Meuser on Friday.
