‘Not easy’: Sky reporter says Newcastle are trying to make a really difficult deal for a ‘top player’

Newcastle United have stayed in touch all summer about a deal for Kieran Tierney but a deal for the Arsenal man is difficult.

Kieran Tierney remains a key target for Newcastle United but a deal for the Arsenal man seems difficult to say the least.

This is acc Sky Sports reporter Keith Downiewho claims Newcastle have been trying to sign Tierney all summer.

Eddie Howe is believed to be a fan of Tierney and discussions have been going on for months.

The problem is that Newcastle are reportedly aiming for a loan-to-buy deal to avoid Financial Fair Play issues.

Arsenal want an outright sale and Downie describes Newcastle’s intentions as ‘not easy’ because the Gunners are so keen to make money.

However, Downie adds that Arsenal understand Tierney’s desire to play first-team football outside of north London.

Tierney is said to understand the big decision he faces now as he hopes to restart his career with a move this summer.

Kieran Tierney must leave Arsenal immediately

Tierney was Arsenal’s first left-back not long ago joined from Celtic for £25m in 2019.

The arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer completely changed Mikel Arteta’s tactical approach.

Zinchenko is extremely effective when it comes to moving into midfield from his left-back, aiding Arsenal’s playmaking.

This is not Tierney’s game at all and it has become clear that the Scot simply cannot play a role in Arteta’s squad anymore.

Tierney wasn’t even included in the squad for Saturday afternoon’s game against Nottingham Forest; He wasn’t hurt, just not picked.

After a season spent mostly on the Arsenal bench, Tierney can’t afford to waste another year in the same way.

It’s time for Tierney to move on and a move to Newcastle – with Champions League football on offer – looks set to be ideal.

Tierney – lauded as “top notch” by ex-Arsenal man Ray Parlor – will certainly be hoping Newcastle find an agreement soon to let him play again.
