‘No’: Darren Bent doesn’t want a £175,000-a-week Tottenham player at Arsenal

talkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has said he doesn’t want Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to sign Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur Richarlison.

Bent, who played for Tottenham Hotspur and supports Arsenal, said he would rather have Folarin Balogun at the Emirates Stadium than Richarlison.

Arsenal have sold US international striker Balogun to AS Monaco in the summer transfer window.

The talkSPORT pundit commented on Richarlison when asked to pick the player he thinks the Gunners should sign least – Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, Richarlison or Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk.

Interestingly enough, Richarlison said in September 2022 that Arsenal wanted to sign him ahead of his move to Tottenham in the summer of 2022.

The Brazil international striker claimed that Chelsea were also interested in him.

The expert continued talkSPORT (5:45 p.m., September 7, 2023): “Richarlison. No. I’d rather have Balogun, who just left. Nketiah, Gabriel Jesus before him.”

Richarlison needs to do better at Tottenham Hotspur

Richarlison has struggled to play well for Tottenham Hotspur and he needs to do better.

The 26-year-old must take advantage of Harry Kane’s departure from Spurs and become Tottenham’s main goalscorer.

James Maddison is playing well for Spurs.

The attacking midfielder creates chances and Richarlison must ensure he makes the most of them.

The Tottenham no. 9 has failed to score in three starts in the Premier League so far this season and has only appeared as a substitute once.

The Brazil international striker has scored one goal in an EFL Cup game this season.

Richarlison has played 204 Premier League games so far in his career.

The striker has scored 49 goals and provided 19 assists in these games.
