NMU ROTC marches to WJMN Local 3 to present Toys for Dot

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJMN) – On Friday morning, Northern Michigan University ROTC students walked from Superior Dome to WJMN Local 3 in Marquette Town with toys and other goodies in their backpacks.

“We’re here today just to help ensure that kids who aren’t as lucky at Christmases as the kids who are capable can still have a little bit of the Christmas spirit that everyone else has,” said Major General Carl Elder. said, deputy commander of NMU ROTC. “And not everything about Christmas is about receiving presents, but it certainly helps the little ones get something to open on Christmas Day. It just puts a smile on their face, so having all the volunteers we have really, really helps. “

NMU ROTC selected the station as the site for the return of Toys for Tots of Marquette County, a program of the Marines Federation that donates toys to local families and children during the holiday season.

“It’s crazy, I love it. I’m so excited to hear that this is going to people who don’t necessarily have the resources to get these things, which makes me very happy,” said cadet Olivia Thompson.

There’s still time to make a donation to Toys for Tots, whether it’s new, unpackaged toys or a monetary donation. For more information, click here.
