NJ man targeting Jews warned of ‘bloodbath’ before attacking victims: prosecutors

An anti-Semitic New Jersey man launched a shocking, hour-long crime spree against Hasidic Jews – after warning his family to expect a “bloodbath,” according to police documents.
Dion Marsh, 27, has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and biased intimidation for allegedly running over two men and stabbing another in the chest on Saturday, Ocean County prosecutors said.
The frenzy began with a violent carjacking in Lakewood Township just after 1pm – and didn’t end until almost 10 hours later when he was arrested at his home in Manchester, prosecutors said.
Two of his victims – including an Orthodox Jew who was stabbed to death – were in critical but stable condition, police said.
Marsh was identified after an anonymous citizen tipped off police officers after spotting him in security video of the car being stolen, according to NJ.com court documents.

A family member then told police that Marsh recently split from a girlfriend, warning them that “there’s going to be a bloodbath,” doctors said.
Marsh was arrested after he was found on his bed holding “what looks like a machete on his chest,” doctors said, according to NJ.com.
He then confessed to detectives, telling them “it had to be done” because Hasidic Jews “are the real devils,” the report says.

That The FBI’s Newark office tweeted that it was “aware” of the violence and “willing to investigate” if “information about a possible federal violation comes to light.”
Local director of the Anti-Defamation League, Scott Richman, said he was “personally appalled at the cruelty” of the allegations.
“More proactive work needs to be done to prevent violence against the Jewish community, and particularly against visibly identifiable Jews, in Ocean County and throughout our region,” Richman said.
