Nintendo has blocked more than 1300 YouTube videos with its background music

A Youtuber who runs a channel that mainly uploads soundtracks of Nintendo games has claimed that the published channel has blocked over 1300 videos in the past few days.

GilvaSunner, a YouTuber that boasts nearly half a million subscribers, wrote on Twitter that Nintendo has blocked videos with background music from games like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, and several others. .

In 2019, GilvaSunner revealed that they had received notices of impending takedown requests from Nintendo Japan, but it appears that it took several years for the company to successfully take down the majority of their channel.

At the time of publication, the soundtrack of Super Mario Sunshine appears to be still on the channel.

In 2020, GilvaSunner said, “Let me be clear once again that I do not monetize videos and do not profit from them. I realize that doesn’t justify uploading content. “

He continued: “I’m also not angry or surprised that Nintendo is doing this, but I think it’s a bit disappointing that there’s hardly an alternative. If Nintendo thinks this is the right thing to do (to set an example), I’ll let them take the channel down. It’s their content anyway.”

So far, Nintendo has actively shut down its piracy practices on YouTube.

To that end, the company established the Nintendo Creators Program, a program designed to ensure that videos featuring Nintendo games are approved for publication.

However, the company later shut down the program, claiming that it would allow content creators more freedom in using Nintendo games in their videos, but posted strict guidelines about their usage.
