Nine Realms trailer shows dragons living in the present

DreamWorks has released a new trailer for Dragon Tales: The Nine Realms, an upcoming animated series inspired by How to Train Your Dragon Franchising. The series takes place in the present moment and imagines how our world will react after learning dragons are real and humans can befriend them.
The new trailer takes us to the Ikarus Project, a geological station that studies a mysterious fissure that emits electromagnetic energy. There, a group of teenagers will discover the truth about ancient legends about dragons. As it turns out, the crack was a gateway to the ancient home for scaly creatures. Fearing that their family might discover the dragons if they found out about the creature’s existence, the teenagers made a deal to keep the rift a secret.
Easier said than done, however, as the new group of dragon riders is torn between their desire to learn more about their new companions and their will to protect the mythical creatures at all costs. Additionally, the trailer teases that some of the creatures living in the rift are unfriendly, which will lead the new dragon riders on a thrilling adventure to save humans and dragons.
