Nick Foles expects to sign with Colts

Once again, Nick Foles joins a team that just lost Carson Wentz.

According to multiple reports, Indianapolis is expected to bring Foles in support of Matt Ryan, reuniting the former Eagles quarterback with his former offensive coordinator Frank Reich. The deal isn’t finalized yet, but is set to be official next week, NFL Network reported.

Reich, now the Colts head coach, led the Eagles’ offense in 2016 and 2017, last season Foles taking over the injured Wentz and leading Philadelphia to a Super Bowl victory.

This time the Colts traded Wentz for the Commanders and are now bringing back another quarterback from Reich’s past.

Foles, who also took over for an injured Wentz in 2018 and helped the Eagles to a wildcard playoff win on the Chicago road, capitalized on his success to a starting job in Jacksonville that didn’t work. He was traded to the Bears to compete for a job at Mitchell Trubisky for one season, then backed Justin Fields and Andy Dalton last season. The Bears fired the 33-year-old this offseason.

Reich, who will be in his fifth season with the Colts, went 9-8 last season with the other Eagles quarterback he coached in Philly, but Wentz was underchallenged and the team fell last week flat of the season, losing to the modest Jaguars, which kept them from a playoff spot.
