“NFTs: Enter the Metaverse” | Watch the trailer for ABC Localish Studios’ documentary on non-fungible tokens

Sale of digital artist Beeple’s Every day at Christie’s for $69.4 million marked the beginning of a seemingly unstoppable NFT wave that everyone from digital artists to mainstream celebrities loves Paris Hilton, Mark Cuban, Steve Aok and many others started creating, selling and collecting NFTs about cryptocurrency on the blockchain.

While NFTs initially focused on the importance of ownership of digital assets, they also soon became part of a social movement in which groups of creators and collectors formed communities based around the buying and selling of NFTs. Some early examples of these groups include CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club, but many more have since grown in popularity as the world of NFTs continues to expand and bring forth new digital artists like the 17-year-old Diana Sinclaireto international fame.

After the journey of the digital artist beepaka Mike Winklemann, through the historic sale of his Every day Thesis NFTs: Enter the Metaverse examines the social and economic factors that led to the rise of NFTs and the impact of NFT technology on the future of the Metaverse. The documentary shows performances by Paris Hilton, Gary Vaynerchuck, Mark Cuban, Steve Aok, 3 lau, Rebekah Jarvis, Kelly CrowKenny Schachter, Diana Sinclair, Daniel Maegaard and Karen Daily.
