Newcastle in Jose Mourinho’s Roma transfer battle for Florian Grillitsch with the Austrian star available for £4m

NEWCASTLE UNITED wants to beat Jose Mourinho’s Roma to sign Austrian star Florian Grillitsch.
Toon is hoping to convince Grillitsch the flexibility to pick them in January and add his class to Eddie Howe’s fight for survival.
Hoffenheim’s Grillitsch can play a defensive midfielder or even a sweeper and is ready to sign before he is a free agent next summer.
If Grillitsch believes in the challenge, then Newcastle could make an offer to buy him from the German for a bargain £3 or £4m.
Toon has been chasing Grillitsch for months and he’s one of the easier players to land on right now – as domestic market prices are high when they’re interested.
Grillitsch also has Roma interested in him, but Newcastle have enough money to tempt him their way – even if there’s no guarantee they’ll stay.
The talented Austrian will face Wales and possibly Scotland on his way to World Cup qualifying and Grillitsch could become a Premier League player by then.
The Magpies are in dire need of reinforcements when the window reopens to help them avoid a relegation dogfight.

Howe’s new boss is mocked by Arsenal fans in his first appearance on the line of communication since taking over at Toon.
And the former Bournemouth manager watched helplessly as the goals of Bukayo Saka and substitute Gabriel Martinelli sealed a 2-0 victory for the home team.
Newcastle’s next Premier League game will be against fellow defenders Norwich on Tuesday night.
The canaries are three points behind the bottom team after a favorable draw with Wolves on Saturday.
