Newcastle are preparing a £26m bid for Marcelo Brozovic

Newcastle United are apparently on the lookout for new midfield signings ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The magpies are a little short in the middle of the park and will probably want to strengthen their ranks.

Eddie Howe even admitted he didn’t want Jonjo Shelvey to leave St James’ Park in January.

Now a report from Italy has claimed Newcastle are preparing an offer for a world-class midfielder.

According to Milan Web, the Magpies have their sights set on Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic via Sport Witness.

Newcastle are apparently ready to table an offer of up to €30m, or around £26m, for the 30-year-old.

Better yet, Brozovic is reportedly excited about the idea as he could be “very attracted” to a move to the Premier League.

The report suggests Inter are unlikely to put up much resistance provided they get a decent offer.

Brozovic has recently lost importance in the Nerazzurri squad and often sits on the bench.

Due to some injury problems this season, he has only played 24 games so far this season.

Our view

Brozovic is certainly a decent reputation for Newcastle.

He’s an incredibly talented and experienced player who continues to rank among the best midfielders in the world.

FourFourTwo Recently, the Croatian was listed as the seventh best midfielder in the world.

Brozovic was ahead of Eduardo Camavinga and N’Golo Kante but behind Declan Rice.

And if Inter accept less than £30m for him, Newcastle would get a small bargain.

However, Newcastle might need to splash the cash in terms of his salary.

Brozovic is currently making £184,000 a week, according to Salarysport.

By comparison, Bruno Guimaraes – the highest-paid player at Newcastle – is reportedly making £160,000 a week.

This is something for the Newcastle board to take into account.

In other news, the club are now looking to sign an Arsenal player to replace the £63m man who is going to Chelsea
