New York robber holds man at gunpoint and steals nearly $40,000 in jewelry

A robber was caught on camera forcing a 54-year-old man to lie at gunpoint in a Bronx apartment – police say he stole nearly $40,000 worth of jewelry, including a diamond-studded Rolex.

Footage taken just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday shows the victim first being forced to raise his hands as a robber pulled a pistol from his camouflage jacket and pointed it directly at him.

As the attacker appears to be cocking the gun, the victim removes his own fur-lined, parka-style coat and slowly crawls face-first onto the floor near two rows of movie theater seats.

Police were told that around 3:24 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at an apartment near East 165 Street and Cauldwell Avenue, a male approached a 54-year-old man in the apartment and went to the Schau presented a firearm. The person continued to remove the victim's chain and watched. The male was then joined by a second male who stole the victim's cell phone, car keys and approximately $300. Both individuals fled eastbound on 165 Street in a black Mercedes-Benz sedan. The victim did not require medical attention at the scene.
