New York police officer Tiffani Gatson kills a woman who takes her own life

A New York state police officer shot and killed a 27-year-old woman Monday, before turning the gun on himself in what appeared to be a murder-suicide, according to the Rochester Police Department.
Tiffani Gatson, 29, shot and killed Angely Solis and injured another woman during a fight at an upstate home before taking her own life, police told WHAM.
Gatson has been a member of the Police Department in Greece, New York, a suburb of Rochester, since 2018. She was off duty at the time of the shooting.
Police responded to a domestic violence call on Costar Street at around 7:20pm and found three women bleeding outside the home.
The New York City Attorney’s Office investigates the shooting as required by law when a law enforcement officer commits a crime.

Solis was pronounced dead at the scene. Gatson was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The third victim, an unidentified woman in her 30s, was also hospitalized and is believed to be recovering.
The two victims were related, WHEC reported. It was unclear how Gatson related to the victims.
Investigators recovered a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol at the scene, which they determined was not Ms Gatson’s service handgun.

“On behalf of the Police Department of the City of Greece, I would like to express our collective sadness and sorrow at the events of last night in the City of Rochester,” the Hellenic Police Department said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Unfortunately, we have seen events of this nature all too often and struggle to find answers as a result. The impact is far-reaching, from those who have lost loved ones, to others in law enforcement when a police officer commits such a horrific act, to our entire community.”
