New York Mayor Eric Adams’ team wants to beat Brooklyn’s David Schwartz

Political activists closely associated with the mayor Eric Adams trying to topple a Democratic Brooklyn district leader who has backed rivals Andrew Yang in last year’s mayoral race, sources told The Post.
Chairman of the Brooklyn Democratic Party Rodneyse Bichotte — a close Adams ally — is attempting to defeat David Schwartz, the Democratic Party’s male district chairman for the 48th Assembly District, which includes the heavily Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods of Borough Park and Midwood.
News of the move has spread like wildfire through the tight-knit Borough Park community, and insiders see it as retaliation for Schwartz for supporting Yang.
Sources in Borough Park and the Borough’s party also said Menashe ShapiroAdam’s Deputy Chief of Staff at City Hall, who was a top campaigner, is heavily involved in the plan to defeat Schwartz.
Bichotte and Team Adams support Penny Ringel, who worked for former Mayor Bill de Blasio and was kept by Adams to face Schwartz. The Jewish Publication hemodia first Ringel’s entry into the race published.

Sources in the Orthodox Jewish community are at a loss to attempt to defeat Schwartz, as almost all Yang voters have chosen Adams as their second-ranking pick in the Democratic primary.
“After Yang was eliminated, those votes flowed to Eric and actually helped elect him. Those districts in Borough Park and Midwood helped him defeat Kathryn Garcia in the final round of the ballot,” said a Brooklyn Democrat insider.

Dov Hikinda former Brooklyn state legislator who represented Borough Park said the Adams camp should focus on running the city and not getting involved in a minor tussle in an election campaign.
“David Schwartz is a great guy. He gets along with everyone,” Hikind said.

“Rodneyse will use everything in her arsenal to destroy David. It’s very bad.”
Adam’s town hall assistant Shapiro said: “I’m not involved. I live in Manhattan.”
Bichotte said, “I will support whatever candidate people feel will best represent their interests as district leader. Choice is critical to the functioning of democracy, and this is a community that has long been underrepresented at grassroots level.”

Sources close to Bichotte confirmed that she supports Ringel.
Both Schwartz and Ringel declined to comment.
