A man was fatally struck by a train in Manhattan early Wednesday while lying on the tracks, police officers said.
The man, described as in his 30s, was seen lying on the pavement at the 116th Street train station in Harlem around 6:15 a.m. as a southbound No. 2 or 3 train pulled in, police officers said.
The driver slammed on the brakes but failed to stop before hitting the man, police said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The MTA tweeted that trains #2 and #3 were running late in both directions after the incident.
