A 60-year-old straphanger was killed when he stumbled backwards after getting off the subway in Queens – and the train hit him as he exited the station, cops said on Sunday.
The man had just disembarked from an E train at Jamaica-Van Wyck station around 11:30pm on Saturday and was standing on the platform when he stumbled onto the tracks. The train then hit him in the head as he exited the station.
The man, whose identity was not immediately released, was taken to Jamaica Hospital but could not be rescued, police said. A police spokeswoman said it was unclear why he stumbled.
