New York man beaten with baseball bat in dispute over dog: police

A bat-wielding attacker has been charged with attempted murder for beating up another man during a dog fight in the Bronx, police and sources said Monday.

Rubin Bartley, 34, is accused of repeatedly hitting the 35-year-old victim with the baseball bat at East 135th Street and Third Avenue in Mott Haven around 3:45 p.m. Sunday, police officers said.

The victim, who has blood on his face, is carried on a stretcher to an ambulance.

The two men had been arguing over a dog when Bartley allegedly got angry, police sources said – but no further details about the argument were initially given.

The victim was taken to Lincoln Medical Center in stable condition with trauma to his face and head, police officers said.

Bartley of East New York was arrested at the scene of the attack. He is also at risk of physical harm, police said.

His arraignment in the Bronx Criminal Court was scheduled for Monday.
