“Never Leave a Marine Behind”

Elon Musk on Friday joined growing condemnation of President Biden’s deal with free tires star Brittney Griner, which gave Russia back its infamous “dealer of death” but left former Marine Paul Whelan in a brutal prison.

Musk offered his own opinion in response to a Twitter user’s question, “Is anyone surprised that the Biden regime is leaving a Marine behind after abandoning Americans in Afghanistan?”

“Never leave a marine behind. Never,” Musk tweeted with determination early Friday, hours before Griner, 32, landed at home in America.

The release of the Phoenix Mercury Center – in exchange for international arms dealer Viktor Bout, known as the “Angel of Death” – was just the last time Whiner was absent.

After Marine veteran Trevor Reed was freed in an exchange in April, Whelan asked, “Why was I left behind?”

“I’ve been held for 40 months on a fictitious espionage charge,” he said at the time from his Moscow prison. “The world knows these charges were fabricated,” he said of the 16-year sentence that the US has widely condemned.

“Why wasn’t more done to secure my release?” he asked in a direct challenge to Biden, who acknowledges freeing Reed in exchange for a Russian pilot who was a major international drug trafficker.

On Thursday, his brother David called the latest swap for not including him “a disaster” for the vet, who is widely considered “hostage.”

Even Reed later called it “wrong” for the Biden administration to free him without Whelan.

Biden claimed Thursday that “we haven’t forgotten Paul Whelan. We will continue to negotiate Paul’s release in good faith.”

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby maintained on the “Today” show Friday that Griner’s release was “the only deal we could get at the time.”

“It wasn’t a choice between Paul or Brittney. The only deal we were able to get was Brittney…we had to take that step to bring at least one of them home,” he stressed.

“But that doesn’t mean there won’t be options going forward to try and bring Paul Whelan home,” he said, saying the administration will “keep working very, very hard on it”.

“We will continue to have active talks with the Russians to see what we can do to secure Paul’s release – this will not be forgotten.”
