My parents gave me £24,000 for my wedding

A BRIDE has admitted she feels “hard done” after receiving nearly £26,000 for her wedding fundraiser.
The self-described “anxious” woman took to Facebook, where she asked brides-to-be what the protocol was for parents to pay for their children’s weddings.
Admitting it was a “controversial” subject, she explained that her own parents gave her £24,000 as an engagement gift, as did her brother.
The groom’s parents, who are divorced, then collectively presented the couple with £300 as an engagement gift.
The bride explained, “Despite our wedding planning call, they didn’t comment on any post so my fiancé had to ask them directly if they were considering giving money away just so we could budget.
“They came back with $2,000 (£1,528). I know it’s not nothing, but I’m feeling a little heavy.

“I understand that everyone is in different circumstances, but I feel sorry for my fiance because there is such a big discrepancy.
“My parents worked hard and set aside a wedding (and education) fund since I was a kid, and his parents are currently spending money on vacations instead of his wedding.”
The post has since been shared Reddit where it has left other users horrified, with the bride being called “selfish”.
One commented: “How could you be so out of touch with reality?? I am ashamed of her because she obviously has no shame.”

“She feels secure that she is entitled to money that isn’t hers, gross,” added another.
A third wrote: “If the bride’s fiancé is reading this please flee this relationship and use all the 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩 your bridezilla is proud to wear.”
