IF you can’t decide on a name for your dog, go down to your local park and try shouting a few times.
Trust us, it could potentially save you 20 years of embarrassment that otherwise you’d have to desperately call for ‘Fluffy’ or ‘Moo’ to come back.
That said, not every dog owner is aware of what other people name their dog – but this probably should be.
Earlier this week, the couple’s neighbor took to Reddit for advice when she passionately believed they should change their dog’s nickname.
Describing the name as “inappropriate”, the woman said she feels like living next to Jay since The Inbetweoners – who is known for his rude sense of humour.
She wrote: “His dog’s name is Boner. Every morning I hear ‘Boner, Boner, BONER COME BACK INSIDE!’

Admitting that she found it funny at first, the woman said the joke quickly disappeared.
She continued: “I hear this every day. I [can] imagine him shouting it in the street or at a park.
“What if there are kids around and he’s screaming for Boner? It’s just not okay.”
What’s more, the woman said her daily interactions with Labrador bring her “a few seconds of fun”.
She continued: “Boner is a lovable dog and it’s not his fault to give him a derogatory name.
“I looked at the dog and thought ‘Poor for such a name’.
However, it all happened last weekend when the dog jumped over the fence while she was having a BBQ with her family.
She added: “It was so awkward for me! I had my parents and grandparents and my neighbor who wouldn’t stop screaming for his dog.”
With a dash of Dutch courage, the woman asked the neighbor if he’d ever consider changing his name – but he just laughed it off.
She added: “I felt very awkward asking him because he should have been free to name his dog – but also why would you choose Boner?”
Not surprisingly, the dilemma has divided members of the forum – with some arguing that she shouldn’t have said anything else.

One person wrote: “Boner is not particularly irritating, and it can be interpreted – if necessary – to children as dogs are like bones.
Another added: “You may not be a *****, but it’s supremacy to think you have a say over something that doesn’t affect you.
“You don’t like something. Get over it.”
Meanwhile, a third suggested: “It’s pretty hilarious. Also the name of a character in Growing Pains. Maybe it’s a tribute to that.”
