My first kiss was on my wedding anniversary, so our odd choice was the right one

These innocent newlyweds have only just begun.
A Texas couple revealed they waited nearly two years before kissing for the first time on their wedding day, claiming the wait made the gesture “even more special.”
Keylin Akuchie said SWNS that she first met her now-husband Eleazer Akuchie in 2019 at the Christ For The Nations Institute and fell in love with him instantly, although it took Akuchie three years to ask her out on a date.
Because of their shared religious values, Keylin and Eleazer established “strong physical boundaries,” according to the bride.
“I had never kissed anyone before — I wanted the first person I kissed to be the one I married,” Eleazer Akuchie, 25, told SWNS. “We really wanted to get to know each other and connect emotionally and spiritually before it got physical.”
Keylin, 24, and her husband claimed that while everyone accepted their decision in principle, they still got a few “eyebrows raised.”
“I think everyone thought our choice was weird,” she recalled, claiming that the most common question they got was, “What if you were a bad kisser?”

But their pre-wedding vows were no picnic, according to the couple. On many occasions, they fought the temptation to close their lips but found other outlets for their yearning energy, such as going out with friends to distract themselves or engaging in strenuous hobbies like rock climbing and hiking together. When all else failed, they turned to prayer.
“The wait meant a lot to me because it’s not a bad thing, it’s just something I wanted,” Eleazer gushed. “Sometimes I wanted to kiss her, but more for her than for me.”
Although they agreed to forego sex and kissing, Keylin insisted that not all forms of physical intimacy had been foregone. Permitted acts included forehead and cheek kisses, as well as holding hands and hugs.

Keylin and Eleazer got engaged after a year of dating. That’s when the couple decided, “After waiting so long, what would be six months?”
The blushing newlyweds admitted to feeling nervous about their first kiss on their big day in June 2023.
“I remember walking down the aisle on our wedding day thinking everyone would see me kiss him — what if we were missing our lips?” laughed Keylin, calling the moment “nerve-wracking.”
Her husband admitted the long-awaited kiss was “strange at first,” but it was “beautiful.”
The happy couple revealed they’ve since shared “a million bazillion kisses a day.”
“Now we can enjoy the physical aspects of marriage and it’s even more special to have waited,” lamented Keylin, who believes her relationship with her partner is proof that chastity creates a strong bond.
“Physical intimacy can be like a band-aid that covers up problems,” Eleazer said. “But not having that has encouraged us to mature emotionally with each other.”
