My daughter has a red rash after sleeping in a moldy crib – I need to get out of this ‘s**thole’ apartment

A TWO-year-old girl develops a red rash after being forced to sleep in a moldy crib when her distraught mother tries to move out of her “s**thole” apartment.
Gemma Price, 23, and her four young daughters are desperate to move out of their musty home in Thurrock, Essex, where there isn’t enough hot water for the kids to bathe.
Gemma has four daughters under the age of 5 – all of whom have to share a room because she cannot find a larger council house in her area to move into.
Tots Ella, Lola, Bonnie and Talulah are constantly sick from mold growing in their common room, which covers their toys and blankets.
And her two-year-old daughter was found covered in a painful rash – which the mother believes is related to mold growing in her crib.
Horror photos show mold seeping through the wooden bed frame and onto the mattress, leaving the child with terrible skin problems.
She says that despite the council’s help, the problems continue to mount and all she wants is to get her children out of the “s**thole” situation.
The heartbroken 23-year-old told The Sun Online: ‘It was my baby’s crib that she had to sleep in, covered with mold.
“She had a very bad rash. I had to laugh my ass off because of the smell.
“We also had to remove the beds and cribs because mold had spread through the wood into the mattress.
“I have four children, the oldest is five years old and the youngest is eight months old. Now they all share a bedroom and I live in a two-bed apartment.
“Mold got on toys and clothes. It made my kids sick.”
Thurrock Council confirmed they tried to help with the “horrible” dampness in Gemma’s apartment – but just two months later, the problem recurred..
They said they had arranged a full survey of the two-bed apartment following legal complaints from the mother of four.
Gemma added: “The council went out twice to sort it out, but each time it grew back.
“I’m currently bidding for a three-bed house but it doesn’t seem to be. But I need to get out ASAP.
“The apartment is like **thole. It’s always cold in the apartment because none of the heaters work.
“Hot water is a joke. You can finish a laundry job and that’s it. There’s no hot water for my kids to bathe in.”
Thurrock Council said in a statement: “Council performed remedial work on the property in June and November 2021, in response to repairs that tenants reported to us.
“Since these works were done, we have received no further inquiries or complaints from the address.
“On January 18, we were notified of other potential problems at the property through a legal representative.
“The safety and well-being of our residents has always been and will be our top priority, and we have arranged for a full survey to be conducted of the property imminently.”
