Musk tells Twitter to introduce gold, gray checks alongside a blue checkmark

Twitter will roll out verified gold and gray ticks when it reintroduces the coveted blue tick service next Friday, Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk said in a tweet after the rollout was delayed earlier this week.

“Gold check for corporations, gray check for governments, blue for individuals (celebrities or not). Painful but necessary,” Musk said said in a tweet.

All verified accounts are manually authenticated before verification is enabled, Musk said.

“Individuals can have a secondary tiny logo to show they belong to an organization if they are verified as such by that organization,” Musk said in another tweet, adding that he would make a longer statement next week .

The company had halted its recently announced $8 blue check subscription service due to the mushrooming of fake accounts and had announced that the coveted blue check subscription service would be relaunched on November 29th.
