Police arrested Aariel Maynor, 29, on a burglary call for the murder of Jacqueline Avant.
Law enforcement announced the arrest on Thursday, after the wife of music executive Clarence Avant was fatally shot at their Beverly Hills home on Wednesday. Police say Maynor was arrested after he accidentally shot himself in the foot during another heist in the Hollywood Hills, and surveillance footage uncovered his tracks.
Authorities believe the shooter acted alone, but are still investigating potential accomplices.
“The motive in this case is still unknown and we are investigating all possible motives. And we’re not going to speculate on anything out there, whether this was a robbery or not,” Beverly Hill Police Chief Mark Stainbrook said.

Authorities confirmed Clarence and a security guard were at the home at the time of the shooting, but were unharmed.
Meanwhile, the family and surrounding community continue to mourn the passing of 81-year-old Jacqueline Avant as the investigation continues to unfold.
