“Multiple” deaths after college bus carrying golf team “head-on” into Ford truck near Highway 115 in Texas

At least one person has died after a college bus carrying a golf team crashed into a truck on a freeway.

The horror smash happened just after 8 p.m. local time on Tuesday on Highway 115 in Midland, Texas.

The University of the Southwest confirmed that there had been a fatal bus accident involving the university’s men’s and women’s golf teams.

The bus struck a Ford F-150 in Andrews County, Newswest9 reports.

The teams were returning from a golf tournament in West Texas and there are fatalities in both vehicles.

At least one death has been confirmed. The victim’s identity is currently unknown.

An official with the Texas Department of Public Safety warned, according to Newswest9, they are not sure how many people died.

Sgt. Steve Blanco said, “It’s a very tragic scene.”

University President Quint Thurman said: “We are still learning the details of the accident, but we are devastated and deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life of our students and their coach.”

It is not known how many people were on the bus.

The investigation into the crash continues.
