Most Anticipated Movies for Winter 2023

Some of the most anticipated movies are often released in Winter, and this year is no different. Although the Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes have delayed the release of a few movies, we expect most of these movies to release on time. You can check showtimes at your local movie theatre in Manhattan for the latest release dates. Here are the six most anticipated movies for this holiday season.

Dune: Part Two

Dune’s first part was a major success at the box office, with worldwide earnings at $402 million. The second part is set for release on November 3rd. Austin Butler plays the role of the villain Feyd-Rautha, which Sting played in the original Dune movie. Timothee Chalamet returns as Paul Atreides, the Messiah of the desert planet. He unites with Freman and Chani to seek revenge for his family. Part Two was originally expected to be the last of the series, but the series is now expected to get a third installment called Dune: Messiah.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes

Set for release on November 17th, The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes is a dystopian sci-fi action film starring Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler. This movie is the fifth installationment of the series and serves as a prequel to The Hunger Games, released in 2012. Set 64 years before the events of the first film, the story revolves around a young Coriolanus Snow, who eventually becomes the tyrannical leader of Panem.

The Marvels

It’s not surprising that a star-studded Marvel movie is one of the most anticipated movies of Winter 2023. The movie stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, and Zawe Ashton. The Marvels is expected to release on November 10th. The story is about how Monica Rambaeu’s powers become entangled with Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan, and they team up to investigate why they swap places every time they try to use their powers. The Marvels is a sequel to Captain Marvel, which was released in 2019.

Killers of the Flower Moon

With the stellar combination of Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, and Leonardo DiCaprio, Killers of the Flower Moon has already gained a lot of attention. The movie is set to release in October 2023. The plot centers on a series of mysterious murders committed on tribal land in the 1920s. The murders were linked to the discovery of oil in the region. This is the sixth collaboration between Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese. They have already given us hits such as Wolf of Wall Street, Gangs of New York, The Departed, and Shutter Island. With that context, a lot is expected from the Killers of the Flower Moon.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

This highly anticipated sequel to Aquaman (2018) is set to be released just before Christmas on 20th December. In this movie, Aquaman, played by Jason Momoa, is forced to protect Atlantis from the devastation unleashed by a mighty and ancient power. The movie also stars Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe. Ben Affleck is expected to make a special appearance in the movie as Batman; however, there is some speculation that his scene will be cut from the final release.

If you watched Charlie and Chocolate Factory (2005), you might have wondered how Willy Wonka became who he was. That is exactly what we will learn in Wonka, which is set to be released on December 15th. The movie focuses on the young chocolatier Willy Wonka and his many adventures, including how he met the Oompa-Loompas. The movie stars Timothee Chalamet, Olivia Colman, and Hugh Grant.
