Mom shamed for throwing $27,000 nightclub themed party for daughter’s 11th birthday

Mom shamers have attacked a prominent Australian publicist for throwing a nightclub birthday party for her 11-year-old daughter.

Roxy Jacenko, 43, hosted daughter Pixie Curtis’ lavish $27,000 party in Sydney on Saturday, bringing along a stylist, a photographer and a DJ for the celebrations.

Photos shared on social media show the birthday girl partying with friends in an event space decked out with disco balls, balloons and bespoke neon lights. Fireworks and a flame-throwing mixologist were also featured at the bash.

But while Curtis appeared to be the love of her luxury party, haters lashed out at her mum – who is a household name in Australia after making millions with her PR firm Sweaty Betty.

“This is a gross display of wealth,” raged one among snaps shared by the party’s Jacenko.

“Some people have too much money… and no relation to the real world. Spoiled to the max,” snapped a second.

Meanwhile, another claimed the celebration was deaf as many families pinch pennies amid soaring inflation.

“They have the money and can afford to do whatever they want, but with so many people unable to afford to pay their rent and buy groceries, it’s distasteful to flaunt it in the media ‘ they explained.

Jacenko quickly hit back, appearing on national TV to defend her daughter’s birthday party.

“The reality is we’re only here for a short time and I want to make sure my kids have the best opportunities they can,” the mother explained.

“I’ve had cancer, we’ve lived a life that’s been scrutinized a lot, so I want to make the most of my life because you don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow,” she added.

The PR guru went on to explain that her daughter has become a fledgling entrepreneur herself after founding toy company Pixie’s Pix during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Not only was it a celebration of her 11th birthday, it was also a celebration of her company,” Jacenko explained, also revealing that her daughter donates toys to a local children’s hospital.

This isn’t the first time the famous mother-daughter duo has made international headlines.

Last December, Jacenko made headlines after revealing her daughter could retire at age 15, with Pixie’s Pix expected to make $21 million over the next decade.
