Mizkif gathers Twitch streamers to pay tribute to Reckful on Reddit’s r/Place

Mizkif, Will Neff and PayMoneyWubby teamed up during a stream to pay tribute to fallen Twitch streamer Byron “Reckful” Bernstein by erecting a memorial on the viral r/place canvas.

Twitch veteran and former esports pro “Reckful” tragically took his own life on July 2, 2020 after a battle with mental health issues.

One of the things he was widely known for was a fairly large stuffed duck that was almost always somewhere in the background of his camera shot. It became so iconic that fans kept creating artwork featuring the animal.

Mizkif, WillNeff, PayMoneyWubby and their communities have collaborated to bring Reckful’s iconic animal back to life with a tribute to the viral Reddit canvas, airing on r/place every April 1st.

Streamers pay tribute to Reckful on r/place

In recent years, on April 1st, the subreddit r/place opened up a canvas for users to create their own artwork. The platform allows users to make one-pixel edits every five minutes.

On April 2nd, Mizkif called on all available Twitch streamers to band together and pay tribute to Reckful on the final day.

He said, “In the final hours of r/place, which is going to be the biggest ‘war’, we should all get together and create a giant Reckful Duck.”

On February 3rd, they did just that. Mizkif, PayMoneyWubby, and Will Neff teamed up with their communities to create a pixel-by-pixel tribute to their fallen friend.

They have recreated Reckful’s iconic space-themed duck, originally created by a fan of creator Liftaris and posted on his subreddit a year ago.

“Boom baby, look at that! Fill in the rest guys! It’s over,” exclaimed Mizkif. “It’s complete! We made it!”

The annual revival of r/place has been the content hub for many Twitch streamers since it was brought back to life – with xQc breaking its viewership record while Reddit censored his art.
