Minnesota mother Julissa Thaler arrested for killing 6-year-old son Eli Hart after cops found body in trunk

A Minnesota mother who has just been awarded custody of her 6-year-old son has been arrested for allegedly killing him and stuffing his body in the trunk of her car.

According to ABC 5 Eyewitness News, cops found Eli Hart’s body in the trunk of his mother’s Chevy Impala while conducting a traffic stop in Mound, Minnesota on Friday morning

Julissa Thaler, 28, was arrested after police noticed blood inside her car and searched the car.

Eli’s father, Tory Hart, made numerous complaints about Thaler’s drug and mental health issues but was ignored by the courts, the report said.

Despite the complaints, Thaler was granted full parental custody just 10 days before his body was discovered.

Tory Hart’s fiancee Josie Josephson told Fox9 that the court failed Eli by handing the boy over to his mother despite her mental health and substance abuse problems.

“No matter how many screams we cried, they ignored us,” Josephson said. “No matter how many warning signs there were.”

Family court documents also show that multiple social workers addressed Thaler’s mental health, unstable living situation, and criminal record.

A document shared on Twitter A WCCO-CBS reporter from Minnesota noted that she had received numerous traffic violations for speeding or using the phone while driving and that she had a drug theft hearing in June.

Another document noted that the mother was endangering her son’s relationship with his birth father, even though he appeared to be a “stabilizing force” in the little boy’s life.

According to the boy’s former foster mother, Tory Hart was unable to have a relationship with his son until early 2021 due to Thaler’s attempts to exclude him from his life.

The foster parents said their bond was strong from the start.

“Eli fell in love with his father and loved spending time with him,” she wrote on a GoFundMe page. “Tory was excited to make up for all the lost years and was thrilled to be teaching his son how to fish and ride a bike without training wheels.”

Instead, Tory Hart is organizing a funeral for his young son.
