Country star Mickey Guyton will head to this month’s Super Bowl stage to sing the national anthem, while R&B hitmaker Jhené Aiko will perform “America the Beautiful”.
Performances will take place on February 13 at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, ahead of the title match and halftime featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar. Performances and games will be broadcast on NBC.
Actress Sandra Mae Frank will perform the national anthem and “America the Beautiful” in American Sign Language.
The duo Happy Mary will join LA Phil’s YOLA – short for Youth Orchestra Los Angeles – to perform the song “Raise all voices and sing”. The song will be performed by Thomas Wilkins, principal conductor of the LA Phil’s Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
Grammy Award-winning producer Zedd will take on the role of DJ in charge of the game during the player wars.
Jay-Z’s company Roc Nation is executive producing the show’s midseason for its third year. Jesse Collins returns as executive producer.
Guyton made history as the first Black woman to receive a Grammy nomination in the country category and the first Black woman to host the ACM Awards. She is a four-time Grammy Award nominee, known for her hit song “Black Like Me”.
Aiko, a six-time Grammy Award nominee, is one of R&B’s top stars and has gone multi-platinum with songs like “Sativa,” “While We’re Young,” and “The Worst.”
Mary Mary, the sister duo of Erica Campbell and Tina Atkins-Campbell, has won two Grammy Awards. The Inglewood natives rose to prominence in the gospel field then achieved commercial success with such hits as “Get Up,” “Thankful,” and “Sharors (Praise You).”
Super Bowl matches are decided after Championship Sunday ends. Team Bengal beat captain to win AFC championship and Rams team beat team 49 to win NFC title.
