Mets star Pete Alonso is lucky to be alive after a devastating car accident

Mets star Pete Alonso was involved in a “brutal” car accident in Florida on Sunday near the Mets spring training facility, in which his car rolled over several times.

Alonso said the driver ran a red light and crashed into him, causing the frightening accident. He said he was “lucky to be alive” and thanked his wife for her support.

“(Sunday) was a death experience,” Alonso told reporters. “For me, I’m really grateful to be alive and grateful to be healthy.
