Metallica Announce M72 Tour 2023-24: Tickets, Prices, Dates

No two nights will be the same on Metallica’s 2023-2024 M72 tour.

That’s because the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees have vowed there will be “no reruns” on their upcoming 12-city, 24-show tour of North America, which will see them perform back-to-back concerts across the United States becomes Canada.

You read that right.

Night one and night two in each city will be entirely different experiences, all performed around the 50-yard line at major soccer stadiums.

That leaves us with many questions.

What night is “Enter Sandman” performed? How about Master of Puppets? Will it be the first or second show that they pull out the long-running hit Nothing Else Matters?

While we don’t have definitive answers, we do know that the best way to find out what Metallica has in store is live.

To up the ante, they enlisted “Night One” and “Night Two” support acts for every stop on the run.

Just a few of these big openers are hard rock veterans Pantera and Mamoth WVH on the first night in each of the 12 cities, and Five Finger Death Punch with Ice Nine Kills to end short stadium breaks every other night.

James Hetfield and company’s innovative tour kicks off on Friday 4th August and Sunday 6th August at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

From there they will hit major cities like Montreal, Dallas, Los Angeles, Chicago and Minneapolis on Fridays and Sundays.

The tour concludes on Friday, August 30th and Sunday, September 1st, 2024 at Lumen Field in Seattle.

A full calendar with all show dates, venues, start times and links to purchase tickets can be found here.

Day tickets will go on sale on January 20, 2023 at Ticketmaster.

Metallica opening acts

Here’s a little background on Metallica’s opening acts for nights one and two of the M72 Tour.

panther are also big headliners themselves. Formed in 1981, the group has sold approximately 20 million records worldwide and received four Grammy nominations over the past four decades. Just some of their biggest hits are “Walk”, “Cowboys From Hell” and “Cemetery Gates”.

Mammoth WVH is the rock band of Wolfgang Van Halen. For those wondering, yes, Van Halen is the son of guitar legend Eddie Van Halen. In 2021 the group released their first album “Mammoth WVH”. Prior to that run, the group co-headlined a tour with Dirty Honey in early 2022.

Five Finger Death Strike, originally from Las Vegas, slays. The five-piece formation has been active since 2005 and has recently toured with Megadeth, The Hu and Fire from the Gods. They also don’t go anywhere in a hurry. Lead singer Ivan Moody said in a recent interview with Revolver, “I can’t stop…I’m not going anywhere.”

Ice Nine Kills has released six albums since their inception in 2000. In the 22 years since their formation, the band has made a name for themselves with their “horror-inspired lyrics.” Literary fans, in case you are wondering, the answer is yes. The group’s name refers to Kurt Vonnegut’s seminal 1963 novel Cat’s Cradle.

New Metallica album 72 Seasons

The upcoming M72 Tour is no vanity victory lap for Metallica.

Rather than resting on their laurels, the group will most likely debut tracks from their upcoming album 72 Seasons, which is due for release on April 14, 2023.

A snippet of the lead single “LUX ÆTERNA” from 72 Seasons can be heard below.

ATTENTION: It is noisy. Very loud.
