MERCEDES is set to appeal the F1 bosses’ decision to reject their objections to the results of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Merc star Lewis Hamilton was won by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen after a controversial safety car decision on the final lap of the season.
Race director Michael Masi allowed some – but not all – cars to pass the car safely before signaling the race could begin.
Verstappen initially had five cars between him and frontman Hamilton before there was a call for them to pass.
That allowed the Dutchman the air to strike his English opponent and have him fly past him with a newer set of tyres.
The Fuming Merc captains fought a four-hour battle to overturn the checkered outcome at Yas Marina Circuit.
Their appeal was ultimately denied on Sunday night – but they have now signaled their intention to bring in a further legal challenge.
