Members of the GOP House Judiciary send a legal demand to Timothy Thibault

Senior Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee fired a letter to former FBI agent Timothy Thibault on Friday, warning him to keep all documents related to his work on the Hunter Biden investigation.

“Whistleblowers have come before Congress claiming they were part of a plot to undermine and discredit allegations of criminal misconduct by members of the Biden family. Accordingly, we believe you have information regarding our investigation and we are asking for your cooperation in our investigation,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the committee’s senior member, wrote in the note obtained by The Post .

“You should understand this retention notice as an instruction to take all reasonable steps to prevent the destruction or alteration, whether intentional or negligent, of all documents, communications and other information, including electronic information and metadata, that respond or may respond to this Congressional Inquiry ‘ the letter continued.

The letter was co-signed by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-California), another senior member of the committee.

In October 2020, Thibault ordered an investigation into Hunter Biden’s alleged “criminal financial and related activities” dropped, an agency whistleblower told Senator Chuck Grassley in July.

Post columnist Miranda Devine reported that Thibault had been hired as the agency’s “point man” to manage Hunter Biden’s business partner Tony Bobulinski – whose revelations about the first son were also ignored by the agency.

Thibault resigned from the FBI in August. FBI Director Christopher Wray said the allegations against Thibault were “deeply disturbing”.

“Thibault appears to be implicated in every whistleblower investigation. He’s linked to the Hunter-Biden scandal, the January 6 investigation, and even Joe Biden’s phony quest to fight “extremism” in the United States. If Republicans take the majority, he will be a top target for congressional inquiries, and this retention notice is the first step in doing just that,” a person close to Jordan told The Post.

The notice to Thibault almost certainly indicates that he will become the target of a broader House probe into Hunter Biden that has been promised by Republicans if they retake the chamber in November’s midterm elections. Members of the GOP House Judiciary send a legal demand to Timothy Thibault
