McCarthy vows to subpoena ex-intelligence operative over Hunter Biden story

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has vowed to subpoena 51 former Secret Service officials who called The Post’s Hunter Biden to expose Russian disinformation in the wake of “Twitter Files” revelations about how the social media behemoth is doing the reporting has censored.

The California Republican — who is expected to become speaker when the GOP takes control of the House of Representatives in January — said what Twitter did to the Post’s October 2020 bombshell report was “outrageous.”

“These 51 secret agents who signed a letter saying Hunter Biden’s information was all false were collusion with Russia, many of them have security clearance,” McCarthy told Fox News’ One Nation on Saturday.

“We’re going to present them to a committee. I’ll have them heard, bring them, and summon them before a committee. Why did you sign it? Why did they lie to the American public?” he said.

Former CIA director John Brennan and former National Security Council director James Clapper were among a group of former intelligence officials who signed a statement days after the revelation, claiming it had “all the classic hallmarks of a Russian intelligence operation.”

McCarthy questioned the move. “Why did you use the reputation that America could give you … but used it for a political purpose and lied to the American public?” he said on Fox.

Republicans are preparing to launch a series of investigations into the Biden family after The Post reported on Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings when his father was a vice president in the Obama administration.

One of those deals involved a Chinese company that GOP MP James Comer, the new chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said President Biden had an interest in after he ended his tenure as VP.

“This is China trying to buy ownership of our American industry, which poses a national security threat — and oh btw, it was run by Joe Biden. It’s a problem, and that’s why we’re concerned that this White House will be compromised,” Kentucky’s Comer told The Post this month.

Twitter owner Elon Musk has released company documents since earlier this month through a series of journalists exposing the internal decision-making behind the blocking of The Post story, the censorship of conservative figures and the banning of former President Donald Trump after the March 6 Capitol riot January 2021 describe in detail.

The first part of the “Twitter Files,” released December 2 by Matt Taibbi, showed that a group of top executives had decided to label The Post’s story as “hacked material” and their deliberations before the then-CEO Keeping Jack Dorsey a secret.

Taibbi said that Twitter “took extraordinary steps to suppress Hunter Biden’s laptop story, removing links to the exposé shared by users and posting warnings that it may be “unsafe.”

McCarthy also said in the interview that a Republican-led House would also put Facebook and Google in the spotlight, saying “they became an arm of the Democratic Party.”
