Mayor Adams wishes Team USA the best of luck in Qatar ahead of the big World Cup game

Team USA has already done their county proud at the Worlds — regardless of the results.
Just before the US men’s national soccer team was headed for a crushing defeat by the Netherlands in the round of 16 on Saturday, the jet-set mayor posed with coach Gregg Berhalter ahead of the big game and wished him well. Both smiled and showed thumbs up.
“That’s a true leader,” Adams tweeted live from Qatar. “Great chat with @USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter ahead of today’s big game.

“Good luck #Team USA! You have already done your country proud #USAvNED.”
Adams arrived in Doha, Qatar on December 1 and has said he will stay until December 4 – to learn “more” about the FIFA World Cup 2022 matches. He said he’d pay the bill for that trip.
New York and New Jersey have been selected to co-host the 2026 World Cup at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.
Before arriving in Qatar, Adams was in Athens, Greece to attend the 2022 Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism. The costs of attending the summit will be covered by the organizers.
